Upper Cervical Correction - Realignment by Grostic.

If you have ever had an accident or hit your head, you may think you are fully recovered, but your spine could be out of alignment!

Your head weighs between 10 and 14 lbs and rests on a 2oz bone called the atlas, which is the top bone in your neck. Whenever your atlas moves, your head moves with it. If the Atlas has shifted even slightly out of position, then it can move your head off center. To compensate, your spine and pelvis will twist, pulling one hip up and one leg with it. This means that you are now walking around on one leg shorter than the other. You can compare this to driving a car that is out of alignment, which results in muscle and joint pain in the body, putting the entire body out of balance.

The brain sends body messages through millions of nerve fibres to control and maintain all body functions through the small opening in the Atlas. They flow down the spinal cord to every cell in the body. If the head and neck are not in proper alignment, it can cause irritation where the head and neck join, causing disruption or distortion to vital brain messages to the body, causing health, pain and organ dysfunction.

There are less than 2,000 chiropractors worldwide trained in the Grostic method. When a patient has an upper cervical spinal correction, there is no twisting of the neck, but immediately muscles relax and blood and oxygen circulation increase. The natural self healing begins, as the brain is now able to communicate with the affected part of the body and the immune system is enhanced.

After suffering from kidney pain, I attended a chiropracter specialising in the Grostic method. He took x rays and then stood me up against a wall for height measurement, informing me that my spine was out of alignment. He then carried out a painless adjustment, sometimes a clicker pen can be used. After this he stood me up and measured me again and my height measured several inchs taller. I felt a feeling of enhanced blood flow. During the night, I went to the toilet, and was amazed to see black bits in my urine. The pain had gone and I guess I passed a kidney stone!

A self help tip for keeping the atlas in alignment is to purchase a foam paint roller and to grip it in the back of the neck for 10 minutes each evening and morning!
