Undiscovered Cape Verde Islands are the new Canary Islands. Not built up and undiscovered by mass tourism. Cape Verde is a cluster of volcanic islands, located in the north atlantic ocean around 300 miles off the West African coast of Senegal. The culture is drawn from the heritage of the half a million or so portuguese and african population. Praia is the capital city of Cape Verde with around 60,000 inhabitants. It is a relaxing place, but also has a vibrant night life. A handfull of airlines operate out of the islands airports, offering direct flights to twelve cities, including Boston and London, uk.

The temperature in Cape Verde is slightly lower than the rest of Western Africa due to the cooler ocean currents. The islands have an average temperature range between 22c and 26c and the hours of sunshine range from 6 to 12 hours a day. There may be some rain during the months of August and October.

Places to visit include;
Mount Fogo - The only active volcano, which is the highest peak of Cape Verde being just under 3,000 metres above sea level.
Santa Antao - The second largest island, offering spectacular landscapes across a mountain range sprouting eucalyptus, cyprus and pine trees. The mountains have amazing hiking trails with panoramic views.
Cape Verde island beaches - Long uncrowded powdery white sandy beaches with turquoise tropical waters. Check out the beaches at Boa Vista and Santa Maria and sample grogue, the locally made, rum like drink produced from distilled sugar cane!

Club RIU Karamboa Hotel was recently opened in november 2008. The Club RIU Karamboa Hotel is situated on the sandy beach of Praia de salines, which stretches far to the horizon. The hotel is huge and has an awesome pool with a vast lagoon that is sunk into sweeping terraces topped with sunbeds, thatched parasols and palms and even has a swim up bar!

Fly direct in 5 hours 45 minutes from the UK to Boa Vista or Sal on Thomson or First Choice. A visa is required which is normally included in the cost of the holiday. If flying independantly, the visa cost is 25 euros payable on arrival. Please ensure your passport is valid for a minimum of six months, prior to your return date. The local currency is the Escudo. However, for your trip it is recommended to take Euros, as they are widely accepted.
